Non Woven Geotextile
One kind of geotextile is non-woven geotextile. Since this material is not made using weaving techniques, the term “non-woven” has been used to describe it. The raw material, wire or filament fiber, is joined in the type of geotextile that is woven or coated. This implies a connection between each thread. Contrarily, the non-woven type uses bonding or interlocking to join the raw materials. Non-woven geotextiles are occasionally made using a combination of techniques.
The bonding method uses engine support (mechanical), chemicals, solvents, hot temperature (thermal), or a combination of several of these methods. Meanwhile, interlocking methods are generally done by applying needle punch or curling techniques. In general, the raw materials used to make geotextile materials are filaments of polypropylene (PP), polyester (PET) or a combination of both.

Non Woven Geotextile Function
In general, this product has 5 main functions, i.e :
1. Separated
Non-woven geotextiles prevent the blending of two different types of materials. For instance, the geotextile serves as a separator between the layered aggregate above the soft soil so that the aggregate plan’s thickness can be preserved.
2. Strengthening and Stabilization
The geosynthetic can serve as a separator, filter, and reinforcer while this product can serve as a stabilizer. Usually, very soft soils are the setting for these geotextiles. Since there is little lateral grip on the extremely soft ground, it will be simple to form the loop when crossing the vehicle. When the wheel load is in use, the geotextile used for reinforcement acts as a membrane and offers additional support capacity.
3. Filtration
It can function as a filter, allowing water to pass through the drainage system while retaining resistance from soil fine particles. The permeability of the material and the size of the pores are variables to take into account when designing a geotextile for filtration. On French drain installations with gravel and perforated pipes, geotextile is frequently used as filtration material.
4. Drainage
The high permeability of non-woven geotextiles allows for efficient water flow. When the drainage system is inadequate, the stability of the road structure and the structure of the ground-keeping walls may be compromised. 5. Protection
Non-Woven Geotextile serves as a layer that prevents the occurrence of damage to the surface of the geomembrane due to rocks or soil in the workplace.
